I didn't end up doing the tallies, since we weren't going to use them, but I noticed that the number of different cultures mentioned or pictures was dependent on the type of textbook. For example, the history/geography texts include people based on the subject matter, while the literature books have stories about people from around the world, and people from different cultures. I think textbook writers are definitely becoming more aware of cultural diversity, and including it in their work.

The website I chose is about art from different cultures. It was produced by Dick Blick Art Materials for the purpose of teaching different cultural lessons in art. They obviously have a preference to art, which in some cultures is important, and some it isn't so much. This could leave out cultures. They do a really good job of including a lot of cultures, but there are of course cutures they don't include (although I really wouldn't know), and also projects that are maybe more common for that culture and not explored. It's really just what the creators see as significant or interesting.
